Verdugo Projects
The District’s Facilities Master Plan translates Verdugo’s educational planning needs and identified campus issues into a series of facilities and site recommendations. These recommendations build upon the character and structure of the Campus, strengthen Glendale Community College’s identity and presence within the community and region, and fortify Verdugo’s ability to maintain its focus on student learning and development.
To meet GCCD’s goals for instruction — which include research-based learning, distance education, and hybrid courses that engage students on multiple levels — the Verdugo Campus recommendations cover a variety of improvements. Classrooms and labs will be constructed or renovated to be as flexible as possible and to allow for the use of technology and furniture that can be rapidly reconfigured to support traditional lectures, breakout sessions, or other learning activities. Buildings and outdoor spaces will be blanketed with Wi-Fi and equipped with numerous additional power outlets to support the use of mobile devices to teach and learn, while learning resources (including tutoring space) will be housed with instructional space and clustered with faculty offices, making it easier for faculty and students to interact.
