Kinesiology and Vaquero Athletic Complex Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
On June 24, 2022, the Glendale Community College District (GCCD) presented the new Kinesiology and Vaquero Athletic Complex to more than one hundred attendees of the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The new, modernized additions to the existing facilities include: Updated flooring and graphics for the existing Verdugo Gymnasium, a brand new Vaquero Gymnasium used for competitions, athletic office suites, Team Room used for athletic program film study as well as Kinesiology instruction, locker rooms, interior and exterior weight rooms, Athletic Training Center, uniform laundry facilities and pass-through lockers, and a Multi-purpose room for mixed martial arts, dance, or traditional instruction use.
Spirited speeches by GCC President/Superintendent Dr. David Viar, members of the Glendale Community College District Board of Trustees, emceed by Associate Athletic Director Chris Cicuto, current and retired GCC coaches were followed by a reception where faculty, staff, and community members enjoyed refreshments catered by the Culinary Arts Department and a custom GCC signature sport-branding “G” cake. Afterwards, student athletes led guided tours for guests to explore the new facility.
The Measure GC funded enhancements to the Verdugo Gym and Vaquero Athletic Complex will support current and future student athletes in physical education classes. In addition, these advancements will strengthen competition and training spaces for all 16 Glendale Community College District athletic programs.
The Glendale college community extends their sincere gratitude to President, Dr. David Viar, for his commitment to bring this Measure GC and infrastructure project to fruition. The new Kinesiology and Vaquero Athletic Complex is a testament to his dedication and vision for the continued success of the College district.
