Verdugo Projects

Kinesiology and Vaquero Athletic Complex

Description

The Verdugo Gymnasium was upgraded with a seismic retrofit and expansion to modernize the facility and bring it into compliance with current codes. The project includes the addition of new locker room facilities, an auxiliary gym, and modern Title IX-compliant spaces to support the physical education and athletics programs. Other features include adding elevator access between floors; modernizing or replacing poorly functioning building systems such as plumbing, drainage, heating, and ventilation; and a number of outdoor upgrades, including a shaded space that can accommodate a variety of fitness activities, accessible paths of travel to Sartoris Field, and public restrooms and a concession stand to serve spectators at the field.
