Sustainability

Description

The environmental sustainability goals of the College District are ever expanding. The College is currently exploring the implementation of sustainable green technologies such as solar energy as well as lower CO2 emitting energies such as hydrogen fuel cells. These projects will be funded from Measure GC as well as sources independent from Measure GC.

Update

  • Survey of Lot A as prospective location for fuel cells conducted on 11/17/2020
  • Hydrogen Fuel Cell Project approved by Board of Trustees on 11/17/2020
  • Modifying reviewed proposal to accommodate a 500 kw system; presented to GCC Board of Trustees on 10/20/2020
  • Presenting the Hydrogen Fuel Cell installation as well as other sustainability efforts to the Board of Trustees in October Board Meeting
  • GCC  finalizing timeline and initiation of project
  • GCC seeking to proceed with the Hydrogen Fuel Cell installation following shared governance and BOT approvals
  • Bloom Energy Hydrogen Fuel Cell installation proposal under review
